Spiral Stair Tread Types & Material Options

We offer several tread types including basic models such as smooth, diamond plate and red oak. Besides these, we offer a broad spectrum of upgrade styles and materials to personalize your stair.

Different Tread Types

The smooth is just that: flat and smooth. We offer 12 gauge steel with a matte black powder coat primed finish.

Our diamond plated treads are 1/8” steel with a matte black powder coat finish and they add texture for greater slip resistance (and looks really great too).

The red oak is ¾” and comes unstained so that you can stain to match. We supply the Red Oak for the treads and the top platform.

Aside from these basic models, we also offer solid wood available in 13 different wood species, fan grated, aluminum, wood covers in 13 different species, and much more for our more customized models. We even offer carpet ready covers so you can easily add your own personal, plush touch.

For interior use we recommend red oak treads or smooth treads. Solid wood and wood covers, aside from designated exterior use wood species, are also best suited for indoors.

For exterior use we recommend galvanized or aluminum with diamond plate or smooth treads. Fan grated is also excellent for outdoor use. Diamond plate and fan grate are both good because they provide superior traction and/or allow precipitation to pass through the tread rather than build atop it. Appropriate species wood covers are also suitable for exterior use. These include teak, cedar, and mahogany.

When it comes to creating the perfect stairway, one of the most important elements is choosing the right type of treads for your spiral staircase. The type and material you select will not only affect how your spiral stairs look but also how they perform. Fortunately, Paragon Stairs offers a wide variety of tread types and materials so that you can create a safe, durable, and beautiful staircase. Whether you’re looking for a wood finish for your indoor spiral stairs or non-slip covers for outdoor steps, we have the perfect solution.

Wood is one of the most common types of spiral staircase treads. Spiral staircase wood treads provide an aesthetically pleasing look that adds warmth to any home while providing a safe surface to walk on. If you’re looking for a natural wood finish, Paragon Stairs offers a variety of high-quality, durable woods that won’t chip or splinter and will stand up to wear and tear. Whether you choose redwood or cedar for your indoor spiral stairs, you can count on long-lasting beauty and performance.

If you need treads for an outdoor staircase, you may want to consider our non-slip, diamond plate spiral stair treads. These tread types provide a safe and secure surface to walk on, making them especially beneficial for outdoor steps or other areas where moisture is present. Paragon also offers a range of outdoor wood tread covers, making it easy to match your deck boards. These outdoor grade materials make it easy to have a custom outdoor spiral staircase.

Finally, if you’re looking for the best material for outdoor stairs, you can’t go wrong with our composite treads. These spiral staircase step covers are extremely durable and weather-resistant, so they’re perfect for adding a stylish look to your spiral staircase while standing up to wear and tear. Plus, they come in several colors and textures, so you can customize your outdoor stairway to match the rest of your home’s décor. No matter what you may be looking for, at Paragon Stairs we have you covered!
