We had a contractor lined up to install our stairs and unfortunately the contractor was being dishonest so we decided to try to install ourselves. With the instructions and the instruction video- we were very successful! The stairs are so beautiful- beyond what we expected! ... It took a long weekend- mainly because the wood treads take a bit of time to stain and poly- but we are so impressed with our stairs! Highly recommend!!!read more

Stairs were made promptly. Salesman Brian was very helpful and understanding with issues and questions. Welds could have been neater. There was some “welding spatter” that was rather sharp left on some pieces. The railing on the platform was very much less than square.... Installation was pretty straightforward. My husband (former contractor) took over my remodel project and cut the floor joists and ceiling and our son helped us install the stairs took about two days start to finish (at night) to get it put in. Overall for the price we are satisfied with the stairs we ordered. And the ease of installation. And the fact that this was a local company that we were able to pick up the stairs to save a bit on shipping. Finished just in time for our grandsons birth!read more

Difficult but possible to assemble without any helpers. But that is why the instructions say it is a three person job. If you do it yourself attach the landing first then the base. Use a plum bob to line things up vertically. Install one pole piece then slide the steps over it... then thread a second pole piece to finish staging all the steps. Install the last pole pieces through the platform and into the pieces below. I cut the fourth pole so the finished height was 42 inches above the platform. Most materials are high quality. The plastic railing came scuffed up and one of the connectors for the railing buckled and failed. Luckily there was an extra. One of the steps was scuffed too and the poles were horribly painted. I decided to get about an inch of extra exposed surface on each step and more total rotation by mounting the each baluster to the front of the upper step instead of in the notch cut into the surface of the step. This will give you a bit less head room since the steps when assembled have more rotation but I think it was worth it for the extra step area and aesthetic in my space.read more

The instructions are partially vague. I was shipped parts that have no instructions, I watched the video twice and the parts I was shipped were not used. They were a giant u shaped bar (12 of them) with a bag of bar clamps. I have 12 step, so I played with this bar and had... others look at the bar. The bar fit no where, they were wider than my steps, they were shorter than my height and the clamps didn’t attach to anything. The paint touch up kit had exploded in the bag and was dry. So now I have to order another can of paint to be shipped. It’s definitely a 2-3 person job. Each stair picket has to be measured and cut individually. The top rail has to be drilled into the main post. And really should have a bracket welded on instead of a tiny screw if someone leans on it a little screw will sheer off and down goes little Johnie. But other than those issues. I had it assembled with one other guy in 4 hours. But we are professional builders with all the tools.read more

There is a lot that goes into deciding which spiral staircase. Jordan was excellent in information, follow up, calming a panicked person that something was wrong with the stairs. It wasn't, they were perfect. Jordan is the best. This is the second set of spiral stairs I have... purchased from Paragon.
