The Challenge
Tara has a quaint and cozy condo with a loft she wanted to easily and safely access. With a toddler at home and only a ladder going up to the loft, safety was a high priority. Tara wanted to encourage her daughter’s independence by providing a safe way for her to get upstairs. Plus, when grandma and grandpa visit, they need something sturdier than a ladder, too. Keeping the footprint small was critical because her condo is a very cozy 1,000 square feet. It was also critical that the ordering and installation process be simple and straightforward since Tara was going to be doing the install herself.
The Process

The Staircase Design
Tara decided on the Prime Econo Stair with a 3.5ft diameter to fit snuggly right up to her loft space. The footprint of the staircase is small enough that it doesn’t impede the space in the room below, and it is much easier for her daughter and parents to get up to and down from the loft using a spiral staircase with a handrail than it would be to use a pull-down ladder. And, ironically, attic ladders frequently have larger footprints than many spiral staircases. The unique style and finish of the Prime Econo Staircase goes well with Tara’s home’s architecture and decor, which was very important to her during her remodeling project.
