We love our new stairs and would highly recommend the product. Steve was super helpful in determining the correct size and walking us through the process via a shared screen to demonstrate placement and direction. I ordered these stairs because they were "in stock". A week after the estimated ship date, they were just coming back from the galvanizing process. The instructions are lacking some basics, i.e. diameter of the concrete footer for the center pole (it's 16" in diameter, below frost line in your area), we had an extra critical part that was not on the instructions and two screws that ran into each other when we were installing the platform. We also really should have had another small footer for the post at the base of the stairs, but realized it too late to add one and again, it was not addressed in the instructions. I had to call customer support twice to get these details. Reps were very knowledgable and helpful, but this info should have been in the instructions which would have saved us time and two calls. Paragon should also have an instructional video on YouTube. We used a generic video to help our installers. Two experienced contractors spent 8 hours putting together our 60" exterior staircase with 11 steps. One point off for poor instructions and delay in shipping when I was told it was in stock.read more

I read Paragon's reviews, and decided to go with them. I didn't want to spend 5K and have a welded one craned over our house to our back deck. So I called Paragon and worked with Kevin to build a staircase custom made to our specifications for under 2K. It was easy and clear to work with him. The stairs were shipped on time, and easy to unpack out of the 4'x4" pallet. My husband and I are 65 and did it all easily. All the items were listed and checked, and all there. We spray-painted them with double coats piece by piece before installation and saved ourselves $1K! (Not a bad savings for 4 hours of work) Our 3 builders took about 4 hours to piece them together, never having done it before. They look great and feel solid. I am beyond happy with them.read more

I was very skeptical of ordering a set of stairs online. How easy would it be to install? How strong would they be? Would everything fit? Etc Etc. From the ordering process to install, the help was awesome. The only issue I had was cutting the ballisters. Each one had to be cut. That part was a pain in the butt but other than that I get compliments all the time. They saved me thousands of dollars and the material was better. Very impressed and would highly recommend them to anyone.read more

Advice for my stair project was excellent. They used remote web video to view the project. Stairs arrived on time and I damaged. This was an easy set to put together and it turned out really great looking. However, you will need more tools than shown in the manual... we had to drill holes into the side of the platform for the handrail baulister and side panel. Aside from that, everything is very well manufactured and easy to assemble. Very sturdy. I am pleased with the way these turned out!read more

Overall my experience with Paragon stairs is positive. The quality is great and it looks great installed. The rest of this review is a warning. To the prospective home owners looking to install these stairs yourselves, a few words of advice. Be persistent in asking for correct foundation specifications for your new stairs. I was given multiple answers none of which were correct. I only discovered this of the day the stairs arrived unfortunately and couldn't fix my foundation accordingly to accommodate. Ignore the instructions for installing the stair tread on the column and then lifting into place if you buy the steel stairs. This will be an impossible task due to weight, and instead I advise dropping each stair tread on to the column from above with the column erect. I must also warn you, prospective buyer, that unlike other stair companies in this business, the stair treads do not have built in spacers between them so you are expected to measure and place them one at a time. This is extremely tedious and unnecessary. If only they had engineered the spacer into the tread. I suggest you build your own spacers to greatly decrease the difficulty of placing the treads at equal distances apart. I also suggest watching a couple YouTube videos (from other vendors as Paragon offers none) on how to pull apart the coiled handrail as it is not delivered at the correct diameter and it is not clear from the instructions how to perform this task and the process is easily misperformed. Finally, the instructions say an average buyer installs the stairs in 8 hrs. In my personal experience as a better than average handyman, this took closer to 14 hrs with 3 people. I would suggest Paragon Stairs to a friend for excellent build quality and fair price, but do your homework. Don't expect the instructions to be sufficient and allow more time than specified to complete your build.read more

Friendly staff. Helpful and caring. Main reason for four stars is certain parts should have had pre-drilled holes and weren't. The parts are well made with thick plate steel. I had to drill numerous holes which was not fun. Also, the platform has a poor design if mounted in a corner. There is a support plate welded close to the holes for the lag screws. You cannot get a drill in there to drill your pilot holes. You therefore have to mark the holes, remove the platform, drill the pilot holes, and then put platform back. Instructions do not mention this.read more

Looked for a staircase for our small cabin to replace a ladder leading to our loft and im glad i decided on paragon stairs. The quality is top notch and very, very sturdy. Instructions were clear and my dad and i, with a little help from mom and my girlfriend, put it up in about 5 hours with basic tools. Drill, level, Allen wrench and tape measure. I ordered the diy to code economy stair kit and am overall happy with the final product. The only issue I had was when I called the sales team prior to ordering to verify that the primed option also included the handrail and center post and that they weren't just bare metal, which the sales person said they would come with the black powder coat as well. They didn't, they are bare metal/aluminum and the center post has numerous gouges in it. I understand why they can't coat them now as it would be damaged during assembly however I would have liked to know that instead of feeling as though I was intentionally lied to, and also would have liked to have been told what their recommendation for painting these parts once assembled would be. Other than that bit of frustration, it came with plenty of extra hardware, all the parts, and the final assembled product is beautiful in our log cabin.read more

The stairs are beautiful. Would have been 5 stars except installation is not as easy as you might think. Several holes have to be drilled by the customer in solid steel. I could drill a few of them, but for the large ones in large metal pieces I had to pay a machine shop to do it. Also, would be nice if platform and wood sanding, stain and poly coats could be done by the company. They worry about damage during shipping, but seems like that could be managed. If not, at least they could warn the customer they will be receiving all unsanded, unfinished wood pieces and they will need to be drilling holes in solid steel. I love the stairs, but a little disapppointed due to inaccurate expectations.read more

I picked this company from two prospects. Main reason was that they provided realtime consultation during discussion. I'm partway into installation and find some issues. some balusters were formed incorrectly at their facility and new ones are on the way. However, all steps are gouged on the outside face due to their (in my opinion) their equipment or clamping process along with sharp edges that could cause personal injury. I reported this to customer service and asked how and what is their remedy? No reply in regards to this issue after three weeks, somewhat depressing. With me, I'm a retired contractor and the solution is simple, however, to pay what I did, I did not expect these defects. For a kit like this I would say it is very strong, quality is higher than expected and when it's finished, it will be a great compliment.read more

My house was basically destroyed due to the actions of an uninsured fraudulent roofing company , skyline roofing and gutters and Holbrooks roofing and gutters. The damage ruined my spiral stairway. After getting quotes locally to repair the damage, for literally about 25% more than the cost of repair, Paragon sent us a complete replacement of the existing damaged stairs up to current code. James Cantwell, the rep that helped me, walked me through the process over the phone, he worked with my bank , contractor, and insurance company, and delivered a perfect product to our home. The quality of the galvanized steel stairs is good. The instructions were wet by the time we got to the box. It would have been a good idea to enclose the assembly instructions in a plastic bag. Also, a few pieces of hardware were not long enough and required a trip to the hardware store. Some of the screws require a square drive head. (Couldn't they have included this $1.34 item with the hardware?). The top platform railing had to be modified to make it fit due to the shape of our deck railing opening. Lastly, the center baluster tubes all have to be individually cut which would take forever with a hack saw. A steel cutting power saw is a necessity. On the positive side, the entire design seems well engineered and durable.read more

The product is great! The staircase is solid--I was worried that it might not be super sturdy, but it turned out very strong. Assembly was about as described--there is one point that you need a few people (4 is ideal, 3 is doable) to hold it up, plumb, and mount it, and another time that 2 people are needed to get the handrail on, but most of the rest can be done with one person. If you get the wood tread covers, plan on this being a week-long installation. You can get some of it assembled, but you'll have to wait as you stain and polyurethane the wood before putting on balusters and the railing. The parts were clearly labeled & easy to identify. A couple of suggestions with the steel balusters: 1. Use a grinding tool to cut these to size--it was the easiest method I found. 2. If you have a 3-per-tread baluster setup like I did, install the longest first on every step and work your way to the shortest. That way if you cut one of the longer ones too short, you can use it for one of the shorter ones & won't end up having to order a replacement baluster. I'd suggest going to the hardware store to get different wood screws (phillips or star) if you're working with wood tread covers or a wood handrail. The square head ones provided are pretty easy to strip & frustrating to have to keep redoing. From a customer service point of view, Paragon did well. It takes a couple of months to produce these, but they were up front about that so expectations were clear. When I got the stairs, one piece didn't quite match up, but they were quick to replace it at minimal additional cost.read more

I ordered a 5’ diameter aluminum powder coat white spiral stair for my Vero Beach house. Paragon was great from placing the order to delivery. Kept me informed step by step, delivery was on time and stair went together perfectly. Their help in the design process cannot be overstated. I would have made several mistakes without the guidance of their designer. I have not installed the staircase yet due to time constraints and the remote location of the cabin it is intended for. I have however received the kit and the quality looks and feels very good. Great customer service. Greg Presson in sales was 100% fantastic. I bought and installed the econo line 5’ stairs for a client.It does the trick. I opted to ditch the included platform rails, and continue a custom guardrail onto the platform. It’s a no frills basic spiral stair. I was able to set it up by myself, except for the uncoiling of the aluminum handrail, that was a bit tricky. All in all everyone was satisfied with the results. Thanks Paragon.read more

The representative was very knowledgeable in assisting me with choosing the spiral staircase that I needed. Everything went great until we attached the aluminum handrail. The rail split where we attached one of the main balisters to the rail. Because we were in a time crunch to get it done, we did not have time to wait for another one to come. Product and service were incredible. Not at all difficult to install. Did require some cutting of the large center post but not a problem with the right tools.

Bought the diy spiral staircase as I like doing project myself.the kit sent arrived unmanaged with all needed parts.instructions were excellent and so easy to follow.the staircase was a pleasure to assemble made easy by paragons system.i can see how this staircase can be put together in an 8 hour time span,being 71 years old I took the slower route and did it in a few days.i am thrilled with the results.i cannot say enough good things about paragon.Dean at paragon contacted me a few times to verify my order and see if everything was ok.great security and great people to do business with.HIGHLY RECOMMMEND,GOOD QUALITY STAIRS! My husband and friend were able to install our spiral stairs with no problems. We were missing an end cap for the railing as the one sent did not fit. Company shipped us a new one promptly. The stairs look wonderful. The wood treads stained beautifully. My only negative comment is related to the age old problem company's have where the left hand is not talking to the right hand (salesman, production, shipping, customer support). Our shipment arrived with three newborn siamese kittens inside the container (2 alive, 1 dead) in addition was a dead rat. What a surprise!read more

Overall, quite pleased with the results.PLUS: 1) reasonable installation - 1 weekend working alone2) good looking, many favorable comments3) relatively easy to adapt to existing landing/railing4) relatively easy to adapt to 99" height while keeping 270 degree sweep(9 treads)MINUS: 1) gobs of galvanized, especially inside of tread collars - had to grind inside of all collars to slide over center column2) no written instructions for aluminum hand rail3) top holes in a number of center balusters were too small for screws - had to drill out (more than just extra galvanizing)4) extra parts that I did not want (platform, platform rail, riser bars, etc.)could not be deleted/credited (part of "kit")read more

Easy ordering... arrived promptly... pole arrived slighly damaged ... issue was resolved immediately.. these people know what they are doing... it is now installed and is very high quality and awesome looking... would highly recommend them...

Delivery, parts, purchase were all excellent, but it took our installer 3 days to put it up (outside 2 story residential home). I doubt that it could be installable by the homeowner. However, the results were worth the aggravation.

I purchase my steps from Salter which is one of the parent companies. Install was a little challenging but with a little help my contractor seal the deal for me. I would recommend anyone interested in purchasing spiral steps to give Salter a try they have a durable product and great customer service. Trying to decide on my next adventure to add another set of spiral staircases to my house.read more
